Dear All,
Enclosed please find a
list of topics for this year’s Project Work.
You will note that
there are two sets of topics –one to do with discourse issues applied to the
set books and another one for exploring media topics or language issues though
the media. It’s up to you to decide on your topic of choice but you’re expected
to choose one from the list given and by no means change it or introduce any
other subject.
You will notice, too,
that there are thirty-five topics to choose from. This is because once a topic
is taken, it will be cancelled and no overlapping will be allowed. Topics will
be assigned on a first-come-first-served basis.
Students are expected
to break up into groups of at least 6 and 8 at the most.
Teamwork will require
students to:
· *read the
material available, focusing on the topic chosen;
· *design a
plan for group search and analysis;
· *draw an
outline of the analysis and an summary of provisional conclusions;
· *hand in both
the outline and the summary (Check dates in the attached Guidelines)
*choose a date for their presentation to take place during October and November;
· *submit the date chosen to me.
*
While projects can be
presented in the tutorials, I kindly request you -as far as possible- to book your
presentations for Monday or Friday lectures.
As for reference
material, we expect you to follow the course approach and use the recommended bibliography
mostly. If at any point you feel you need additional material, we will be glad
to give you guidance and/or suggest other readings.
Project work and oral
presentation make the oral component of coursework evaluation so all students
must go through it in order to pass coursework.
With best wishes,
Ana Moldero
